The Sheraton Commander Hotel, the original hotel of Harvard Square, opened in 1927. The Commander is situated on historic Cambridge common near the site where General George Washington took command of the continental Army in 1775. Within the hotel, the George Washington Ballroom hosted John F. Kennedy as he announced his candidacy for the Congress of the United States.
The Commander has 175 individually unique guestrooms. Each richly decorated guestroom of the Commander is inspired by the hotel's place in history and the long standing traditions of Harvard Square.
Each room is furnished with air-conditioning, cable television, coffee maker, computer data ports, electronic locks, in-room video games, iron and ironing board, pay-per-view movies, umbrella and voicemail service.
The Fitness Center is equipped with state-of-the-art exercise equipment and an outdoor sundeck.
